Summer in Review

The end of the summer is nearing, but here are a few of the trends I liked from this summer. Definitely going to work some of these in for next summer.

Fishtail braids, cute summer dresses, glittery bronze nail polish on toes, and bright pink nail polish was what my summer was all about.

Extra-va-vaganza OPI

I loved the bronze glittery polish with matching sandals. These sandals are from Qupid, and I wore them most of the summer. They are casual, but they have just barely that of a heel so they also can be dressed up. They are super comfy and summery. I have fallen in love with glitter polish on my toes. There is nothing like looking down and seeing your toes sparkle in the sun. The polish I used here is Extra-Va-Ganza from the OPI Holiday Burlesque collection. I am definitely working some of this trend in for early Fall but with different colors. Pictures of this soon!

While I'm on the nail polish kick I also fell in love with OPI Strawberry Margarita and Elephantastic Pink. These are two very summery pinks, and I couldn't take Elephantastic Pink. I may even wear it again for the last of these hot days. It adds just the right amount of pink to punch up some outfits.

Fish tails braids were also big and easy to do. I have extremely thick hair, so it takes me a good ten minutes, but it's worth it. Cools things down by getting the hair from hanging. Loved this pair with a summer dress. What summer trends were big with y'all? I'm sad to see summer go.

Intro and Skincare

I am pleased to start my very own blog.
I love reading other blogs checking out the latest fashions, new nail polishes, and beauty tips. So I figured I might as well start my own blog, share my findings, and do beauty product reviews. Hopefully you will enjoy my posts. I would love comments and to start discussions about fashion and beauty products.
First off I am a big seasonal dresser and a what I feel in the moment dresser. I love dressing to how I feel that day, and I love going through the different seasons and incorporating that into my dress. Like wearing red during the holiday season. In general I just love changing up my look. I don't want to look the same day in and out. I try hard to stay up to date, but also wear what I feel. I think wearing what you feel is very important, because if you are happy and content with what you are wearing your confidence will show.

First off, I want to talk a little about skincare. Your skin is the template of your beauty. It is important it looks healthy to pull off looks. You will be amazed at how much of a difference healthy skin can make. Taking care of your skin is very important and something that will show for the rest of your life. Everyone knows people look better when they take care of themselves. I learned and realized some very interesting things about skin care the past year I want to share.
The most important thing I learned is the importance of sunscreen. Now before you young girls quit reading and sigh saying you've heard it all before. Please read all the way through and actually think about it. I didn't realize this, and I wish I could go back and change all my years of sun damage to my skin, but sun can cause HUGE damage to your face. Want to have flawless skin like Beyonce? Large pores are actually caused by the sun, and holes on your face are not attractive! Dirt and oil sits in your pores and overtime mixed with repeated sun exposure the dirt and oil will widen your pores. Larger pores are mainly caused from sun damage. I couldn't get over that I didn't know this. This also makes sense to me because the places on my face where my pores are most noticeable is my nose and upper cheeks, where the sun touches first. Sunscreen can help prevent your pores from widening, but it is important you put it on religiously. No more getting burnt!! I recommend a moisturize in the morning with SPF in it. The sun causes larger pores not to mention wrinkles, sagginess, uneveness, and a whole slew of other problems. Trust me, when you get into your late twenties you will thank me for pushing sunscreen. I mean I don't understand why people would want a temporary tan on their face when it brings on permanent ugly damage? It is not worth it! There are tons of good self tanning lotions, sprays, and professionals who can give you a tan. Ditch the baking without sunscreen and the tanning bed, now!
Another equally important thing for your skins health is eating healthy. That means eating those greens. You will notice your complexion glowing the next day. I also do vitamins because I'm a horrible green eater. The prenatal vitamins have really made my complexion more youthful. If you want to pay a little extra I know One-A-Day makes a vitamin specifically targeted for skin's elasticity. This is just as important as wearing sunscreen and both of these are probably the best beauty advice you will ever have.
The next and last thing I will touch on is moisturizers. Yes moisturizers help keep your skin young! Even if you have oily skin it's a must. Buy a moisturizer specially for oily skin (I know Clinique has one). This also will help take care of your skin and help keep it's radiance, elasticity, and overall well being. I have oily skin, and I used to think I didn't need moisturizer because of this. Wrong! I apply lots of moisturizers now and my skin looks more youthful and has more glow than when I was a teenager.

I hope every girl follows this advice. Sorry this blog is a little long, but I feel skincare is very important! I look forward to seeing you again and please check back! I have lots of news and trends to share! I also look forward to talking with you!
