Sparkly earrings, luminous complexion, and red lipstick for Holidays

Sparkly earrings, a luminous complexion, and red lipstick are a must for the holidays.
I have these big sparkly earrings I always wear during this time of year. Another pic of them are on my previous blog. I really need to get another pair, but these and diamond studs are my favorite. Hair up or down you can't go wrong! Adds a great amount of sparkle for the holidays.
Another must for the holidays is a glowing, luminous complexion. I love Benefit's "Girl Meets Pearl". Don't be afraid to put a swipe across your forehead, down your nose, cheekbones, and a smidge on your chin. It really makes your face brighter and more youthful. Which the Winter can make your face look more full, which is why it's important to moisturize! A lot! Also, make sure you use the highlighter on your brow bones. If you are wearing red lipstick I always put more highlighter on my brow bones because it really accents red lips.
I have heard a lot about Benefit's "Watt's Up" highlighter, which you may want to try out, but I haven't yet. If you have tried it please leave your review.
and of course red lipstick is always a must for the holidays! Any variation of red, light or dark. Remember if you are doing dark to add highlighter so you will look more bright.
Highlight and sparkle!!

Old Navy Sweaters!

I love Old Navy sweaters this season. They are so warm and very affordable. Especially look out when Old Navy run sales! Perfect to pair with some dazzling jewelry and high boots. Perfect for winter time! Here are some of the sweaters I love:

Southwestern Print Cardigan from Old Navy. Saw this in an issue of Cosmopolitan and had to have it! Southwestern print is still in style, and this sweater is perfect for traveling or curling up with a book. This is the warmest of the sweaters.

Black and white Old Navy Cardigan. Very cute to pair with black boots. Also very cozy.

White one good for Christmas time! Wear with diamond studs and some red lipstick!

Blue one is a big cozy sweater. I wear this with big sparkly earrings, fur boots, and my hair up and messy. It's very comfy and stylish. Can kinda go off the shoulder. Had to go up a size though. Supposed to fit kinda baggy and runs small.

Sparkly Red Polish for December

Getting close to Christmas time! So time to break out the sparkly red polish!
This week I tried OPI's Animalistic. It's a very shiny lighter red color with a hint of sparkle. It is beautiful! and perfect for Christmas time! The application went on very easily. Maybe my favorite of the whole Muppets Collection.

I wanted to do Gettin Miss Piggy Wit It for my toes, also from OPI's Muppet Collection. I did a base color first, and I didn't get the amount of sparkle I wanted. Then I did it without a base color, and found the polish was very thin. It took many coats to achieve the desired effect. The Excuse Moi polish goes on way easier. I may try a sorbert shade from OPI's Texas Collection for the base. There are some reds in there, so hopefully that will work better!
I thought it would be so pretty to have red nails, and then whenever you finally get to see your feet have pretty red glittery toe nails! Glad Holidays are here!

Rainy days and Fedoras

I love wearing a cute hat when the weather is rainy. Your hair is going to get messed up anyway. So do a low side pony, put on some cute earrings, and a fedora and you're good for the day. The hat helps keep your hair from getting wet, can eliminate a bad hair day, and adds a stylish touch. Love it! I wore this fedora with a baggy sweater and some skinnies. So comfy!

Stylish Girl App - best way to stay stylish!

Okay all you Apple owners. I found an app this summer that I absolutely love, and every girl needs it! It's called Stylish Girl, and it does so many things! This app is also free, except for the calendar which you don't have to have. I think Androids have an app similar to this as well.
First off you build your closet by taking pictures of items you own. This is the most time consuming part, but I love getting organized and it's so worth it! You divide up the items by top, dress, bottoms, shoes, or accessories. Then there is subcategories you put them in. Like always buy earrings and lose them and forget what you have? Well now you can see all of the inventory you have, and hopefully keep track better! This is a wonderful way to know exactly every piece you have at a glance.
The second step is to build your outfits with what you have in your closet. You can keep track of all your different outfits and categorize them in dressy, casual, and etc. If you have a date night you can see all your outfits to choose from for that. Need sunglasses to go with a certain outfit? Click on accessories and then sunglasses and you can choose from what you have. This lets you build more of a complete outfit because all your pieces are at your fingertips. I love going through and looking at all the different outfits I have, and I love just building all different outfits with my pieces! This app really opens your eyes to what's in your closet!
It has a calendar as well. For the full calendar it's $1.99, but you can mark the outfits you wear on a certain day. Great for keeping up with what is worn. With the full calendar you can make notes and go through and see a visual of all the different outfits worn.
I like this app also because if there is a certain trend you want to wear, like fur boots, you can select the fur boots, click the magnifying glass, and it will show you all the different outfits in your wardrobe with those boots. You can also make tags. If you have multiple pairs of fur boots, you can make a tag of that in all the different outfits that have some. That way when you want to wear some, or love the trend and you want to plan out your outfits, just search the tag, and select the days you'll wear what, or just see which one you'll wear today.
Can definitely mix and match more and more efficiently with this app, keep track of outfits you haven't worn yet, keep track of all your items, pack a suitcase, and just use your closet to the fullest. I am in LOVE with this app. Their are so many different things you can do. I could talk about it forever, but seriously download it and start building your outfits. You won't regret it!

Ruffles and a little lace for Thanksgiving

I got this pretty ruffle cardigan from Victoria's Secret. I love the color of it for Thanksgiving, and love the feminine ruffles. Paired with this camisole with lace on top (also from VS) and some brown boots, the look is perfect! Comfy and casual dressy for Thanksgiving. I want to see the other colors they have in this ruffle cardigan and get another for the Holidays.

Excuse Moi

I am in love with OPI Muppets Collection. I had to blog about this one as well. Also, some other ones will get blogged about for December. My favorite collection so far. I may have to snatch up all of them.
Here is Excuse Moi. In the promo pics this polish did not look too impressive to me. However, in the store when I saw it, I thought it was one of the prettiest in the entire collection! Also, thinking I'll have to break out this polish for February. It's a pretty pink with fine mixed glitter spots throughout. Very different than anything I've seen and definitely a stand out in my collection. I LOVE Katy Perry's Teenage Dream as well. This comes in as a close tie. However, this one is a bit more festive so perfect for the holiday season.
As opposed to other glitters this one went on pretty thick. You can get two coats out of it, but I used three to get the desired sparkle effect I wanted.
I put up some close up pics so you can see the individual glitter. Check out the pics, and when you are feeling girly and festive this is definitely the polish to paint on!

November/Thanksgiving Polish

The nail polish that is perfect for the month of November is OPI's Warm and Fozzie from their Muppets Collection. First off, this collection is wonderful! Every color is a must have for me! I wasn't too impressed with their Touring America Collection, but they really hit the nail on the head with Muppets and also with the Miss Universe Collection. Be sure to check out the great holiday colors in Muppets!
Warm and Fozzie was recognized by Glamour as being the polish for November, and I have to agree. It has that brown color that reminds you of Thanksgiving, and also has tons of sparkle. Warm and Fozzie is not a straight glitter, but it almost looks like it on the nail. Very pretty, pretty color for going into the Holiday season. I am wearing it on my nails now, and most definitely through Thanksgiving.
For November I have been wearing deeper polishes of course, and more on the berry side. Another one from the Muppets I like for November is Pepe's Purple Passion. Very dark berry color with a hint of sparkle.
I tried Get in the Expresso Lane from Touring. I wasn't too impressed. I thought it had more of a brown tint. In the sunlight you can see it has a green tint. I'm just not feeling it. I already have some like that so I will be exchanging it.
That's all my thoughts for November polishes. Warm and Fozzie wins hands down. You definitely have to try it. It looks beautiful on nails!

Early Fall Fashion Review

Sorry I didn't post this quicker, but better late than never. The weather is still getting kinda warm, so these fashions can still be used!
Glitter sandals with OPI's "Crown Me Already"
This September I incorporated more of the matching glitter sandals and polish. I just absolutely love this, and loving glitter polish. The polish shown here is from OPI's Miss Universe Collection, "Crown Me Already." I also had a white tote bag to match with a little thin stripe of the same sparkle, so it all went together beautifully! Love it!
I'm also loving these blue BlankNYC jeans. They are so comfy, and the blue is different and more bright. So they definitely stand out.
I also got this crochet cardigan from Victoria's Secret. It is super comfy, and perfect for weather where it's a little chilly but not too much. Perfect for relaxing and snuggling up in, or just going out for a casual lunch or dinner.

OPI's "I Eat Mainely Lobster" from the Touring America collection is the swatch I'm doing here. A hot shade perfect for the leftover summer months. Also, good for October with the gleam of orange in it. This shade looks just like a lobster, an orange/red color. It truly is gorgeous.

Did anyone else wear this shade? and what other trends do y'all wear for the going into Fall weather?
"I Eat Mainely Lobster" looks more orange here, but depending on the lighting it does.
"I Eat Mainely Lobster"

October Fashion!

October has turned the weather chiller, loving cowboy boots, suede heel boots, and cozy but light sweaters.  Also, love a light flannel orange colored shirt this time of year. It's perfect for the weather and so comfy. Perfect for pumpkin carving! I also love this sweater I have picture. It has a hood and somewhat thick fabric. It's very cozy, and I love the detail. Perfect for Fall. I have an up close picture so you can see the different colors represented in this sweater. This is the time of year to bring out orange colors and brown boots!
Miss Congeniality is My Middle Name OPI

A nail polish I'm really loving right now is from OPI's Miss Universe Collection. Congeniality is My Middle Name is a perfect dark berry toned shade with some shine and sparkle. I am posting some pics of it. Taken with two different cameras. The second one captures the actual shade of it best. It really is a shiny dark shade, and I think also the perfect shade to carry into November. I love the small amount of glitter it has. Another shade, which is also from that collection (It's My Year) I'm also loving for October. More posts for this month soon!

Summer in Review

The end of the summer is nearing, but here are a few of the trends I liked from this summer. Definitely going to work some of these in for next summer.

Fishtail braids, cute summer dresses, glittery bronze nail polish on toes, and bright pink nail polish was what my summer was all about.

Extra-va-vaganza OPI

I loved the bronze glittery polish with matching sandals. These sandals are from Qupid, and I wore them most of the summer. They are casual, but they have just barely that of a heel so they also can be dressed up. They are super comfy and summery. I have fallen in love with glitter polish on my toes. There is nothing like looking down and seeing your toes sparkle in the sun. The polish I used here is Extra-Va-Ganza from the OPI Holiday Burlesque collection. I am definitely working some of this trend in for early Fall but with different colors. Pictures of this soon!

While I'm on the nail polish kick I also fell in love with OPI Strawberry Margarita and Elephantastic Pink. These are two very summery pinks, and I couldn't take Elephantastic Pink. I may even wear it again for the last of these hot days. It adds just the right amount of pink to punch up some outfits.

Fish tails braids were also big and easy to do. I have extremely thick hair, so it takes me a good ten minutes, but it's worth it. Cools things down by getting the hair from hanging. Loved this pair with a summer dress. What summer trends were big with y'all? I'm sad to see summer go.

Intro and Skincare

I am pleased to start my very own blog.
I love reading other blogs checking out the latest fashions, new nail polishes, and beauty tips. So I figured I might as well start my own blog, share my findings, and do beauty product reviews. Hopefully you will enjoy my posts. I would love comments and to start discussions about fashion and beauty products.
First off I am a big seasonal dresser and a what I feel in the moment dresser. I love dressing to how I feel that day, and I love going through the different seasons and incorporating that into my dress. Like wearing red during the holiday season. In general I just love changing up my look. I don't want to look the same day in and out. I try hard to stay up to date, but also wear what I feel. I think wearing what you feel is very important, because if you are happy and content with what you are wearing your confidence will show.

First off, I want to talk a little about skincare. Your skin is the template of your beauty. It is important it looks healthy to pull off looks. You will be amazed at how much of a difference healthy skin can make. Taking care of your skin is very important and something that will show for the rest of your life. Everyone knows people look better when they take care of themselves. I learned and realized some very interesting things about skin care the past year I want to share.
The most important thing I learned is the importance of sunscreen. Now before you young girls quit reading and sigh saying you've heard it all before. Please read all the way through and actually think about it. I didn't realize this, and I wish I could go back and change all my years of sun damage to my skin, but sun can cause HUGE damage to your face. Want to have flawless skin like Beyonce? Large pores are actually caused by the sun, and holes on your face are not attractive! Dirt and oil sits in your pores and overtime mixed with repeated sun exposure the dirt and oil will widen your pores. Larger pores are mainly caused from sun damage. I couldn't get over that I didn't know this. This also makes sense to me because the places on my face where my pores are most noticeable is my nose and upper cheeks, where the sun touches first. Sunscreen can help prevent your pores from widening, but it is important you put it on religiously. No more getting burnt!! I recommend a moisturize in the morning with SPF in it. The sun causes larger pores not to mention wrinkles, sagginess, uneveness, and a whole slew of other problems. Trust me, when you get into your late twenties you will thank me for pushing sunscreen. I mean I don't understand why people would want a temporary tan on their face when it brings on permanent ugly damage? It is not worth it! There are tons of good self tanning lotions, sprays, and professionals who can give you a tan. Ditch the baking without sunscreen and the tanning bed, now!
Another equally important thing for your skins health is eating healthy. That means eating those greens. You will notice your complexion glowing the next day. I also do vitamins because I'm a horrible green eater. The prenatal vitamins have really made my complexion more youthful. If you want to pay a little extra I know One-A-Day makes a vitamin specifically targeted for skin's elasticity. This is just as important as wearing sunscreen and both of these are probably the best beauty advice you will ever have.
The next and last thing I will touch on is moisturizers. Yes moisturizers help keep your skin young! Even if you have oily skin it's a must. Buy a moisturizer specially for oily skin (I know Clinique has one). This also will help take care of your skin and help keep it's radiance, elasticity, and overall well being. I have oily skin, and I used to think I didn't need moisturizer because of this. Wrong! I apply lots of moisturizers now and my skin looks more youthful and has more glow than when I was a teenager.

I hope every girl follows this advice. Sorry this blog is a little long, but I feel skincare is very important! I look forward to seeing you again and please check back! I have lots of news and trends to share! I also look forward to talking with you!
